Keep your home safe from fire.

We covered some preliminary tips for keeping your home safe from fire in our blog from last week, but there is a lot more to cover. Fire safety is very important for your home and family. So, we’re bringing you even more tips to keep yourself safe from a house fire. Would you like to learn more? Let’s take a look.

Watch your electronics.

These days, there are tons of wires in every home. There’s one for the TV, the sound system, the toaster, all of the computers, and the AC. That’s only scratching the surface. There are just a ton of wires in every home and they could all pose a danger. Avoid overloading power strips and outlets with too many electronics. You should also make sure that they’re clear of any debris or items. Make sure that they have room to breathe, so to speak. You should also make sure that your power grid can handle the load you are placing on it. Old wiring with too much energy flowing through it can be a big risk.

Don’t forget to turn things off.

One of the easiest things to do is forget something. We forget our keys, our cell phones, and even to lock the house. But what about an oven or a curling iron? Those two things can lead to major problems. Avoid leaving electronics and appliances running when you can. Try to make a real effort to remember by leaving notes or alarms on your cell phone. It may seem simple, but according to the red cross, over 7 billion dollars in fire damages occur every year. These house fires are probably accidents, but they could have easily been prevented by a little extra effort.
